Reasons to Learn the Italian Language
63Top 4 Reasons To Learn Italian
If you are reading this article, then I assume that you would like to learn to speak Italian. Well, you are in luck because I have listed 4 reasons that I believe you should pursue your interest. Do not allow anything to stop you from attempting to learn Italian. Like anything worthwhile, it will take effort, but the rewards are worth it.
Read carefully, because I believe you will find some truth in this hub. I hope to motivate you, not unlike a personal trainer...a personal trainer of language learning, that is. I've presented four of what I believe would be the top results from Harvard polls on the reasons most people would like to learn Italian.
I proudly present my Top 4 Reasons To Learn Italian!
Venice
Reason 4
Your ancestors were from Italy, and you claim that you are Italian to everybody within a 25 mile radius...even when you are clearly American. The least you can do is learn something about the actual Italian culture, and not just make references to American-Italian Mafiosi. With all of the positive contributions that Italians have made in the world, it is not reasonable to project the negative images that these men send.
Remember kids, calling yourself a Guido or Guidette does not prove that you are Italian. Your story will be a little more convincing if you are actually able to speak a little bit of the language.
Reason 3
You are a real fan of lasagna, and "O Sole Mio." Lasagna is a favorite dish for Americans when it comes to Italian food. You would be surprised at the difference between many American restaurants' versions of lasagna, and the way that Italians cook it.
You should try it at least once in Italy. Perhaps on a gondola with the gondoliere singing "O Sole Mio" as you float down one of the small canals throughout Venice. Remember though, you won't be able to order lasagna, or purchase a trip in a gondola unless you are fluent in Italian.
If you have read this far, then I'm going to give you a little treat and post a slideshow with Luciano Pavarotti singing your favorite song.
O Sole Mio
Monica Bellucci
Reason 2
Monica Bellucci may live with her husband in France, but there is the possibility that she has a twin who still lives in Italy that you could meet. But, your love at first site will not happen if you are not able to recite Dante's Inferno to her in Italian (Italian chicks love that).
Even if you do not plan on going to Italy and meeting Monica Bellucci's possibly nonexistent twin, speaking more than one language makes you sound sophisticated. Even if you find Seth Rogan movies funny, she doesn't need to know that at first. Speak some romantic sounding Italian, and Ye Shall Be Rewarded.
I'm trying to help you fellows. This is your future that we are talking about here.
Roberto Benigni
Reason 1
And for you ladies out there, our number 1 reason to learn Italian...Roberto Benigni!
Sure he may not be Fabio-ish, but he is funny, and probably has a great car. There is no denying the benefits that you would get from dating this man. Right now Roberto is married to Nicoletta Braschi, but if you learn Italian I think there may be some magic between the two of you.
If you believe it-
You can achieve it.

You forgot to tell em to avoid driving a car in Italy unless there Really good at beeping the horn[this is an art in Naples]and ignoring signs, lights, and policia who seem to be more for decoration than anything else.BTW...I'm so Italian my blood type is Ragu...I speak fluently but always end conversations with Friends with"Ba Da Bing"!That cracks me up!love your hub! Thanks

I lived in Italty and I understand the langugae fluently. I grew up with people who migrated to my country from Italy and they spoke Italian in the home. But when I went ot Italy everyone spoke English. I would speak Italian to them and sometimes I would mess up a word and they would smile and given me what I meant to say anyways. Italians are very generous this way.
I didn't know there is a literaly translation for lasgana. Just like Oregeno isn't used i cooking atleast among the Romans I hung out with. Dialects switch froom region to region. I find the Milanese the hardest to understand.
Pizzas are quite different in Rome as well. I loved the little suplies (sp?) A bal of rice with tomato sauce ad mozarella.
Driving in Rome is liek running in herds. And there are no lanes, no signs and it is like bumper cars. I drve a scotter in my day and it was a very dangrous thing to do. I recommend mass transit for the tourist.
